When the business stopped living in one person's head

Alexandra Doubleday built Product Park to solve a problem she kept seeing everywhere. Good product ideas, stuck. Founders with something real to bring to market, but no clear route through manufacturing, sourcing and supply chain to get there. Based in Bramley, Guildford, her team guides brands from that first spark of an idea through to a finished product on the shelf, backed by a network built over twenty years in the industry.

From the outside, Product Park looked like exactly what it was built to be. Capable. Trusted. Growing. From the inside, Alex knew there was a weak point.

Every process, every decision, every piece of knowledge about how the business actually ran sat in one place. Her head. It worked, because she was good at holding it all. But it also meant the business could only grow as far as she alone had time and headspace for.

Kate became an extension of our business from day one.

The Starting point

Product Park was growing the way most founders want their business to grow. More clients. More product lines. More people needed just to keep up. But growth was exposing the gap underneath it.

There was no shared system for how work moved through the business. No process that existed anywhere other than in Alex’s head. Nothing written down that a new team member could pick up without asking her directly. And with the business about to move into a new office, the physical space needed the same kind of thinking as the operational side. Neither could be sorted out after the fact.

Alex didn’t need someone to tell her what she already knew. She needed someone who could get into the business and fix it alongside her, without stopping everything else to do it.

What happened

Kate’s Embedded Partnership with Product Park ran for four months. Not as a coach dropping in for the odd session, but properly inside the business. In the workflow. In the decisions. Doing the work that needed doing.

Two things happened at the same time.

On one side, Kate worked through how Product Park actually operated. What was working, what wasn’t, and where the frustration was really coming from. That understanding became the foundation for a new system built in Monday.com, designed around how the team worked rather than a template pulled off the shelf.

She took the time to understand how we worked, listened to the frustrations we were experiencing, and then designed systems that genuinely worked for us rather than expecting us to fit into an off-the-shelf process. She implemented Monday.com seamlessly, making what felt like a very complex business suddenly feel organised, efficient and easy to manage.

On the other side, Product Park was sourcing and planning a new office. Kate worked through the practicalities of how the space would actually function day to day, not just how it would look.

Kate also helped us source and plan our new office, thinking through the practicalities of how the space would function day to day. Having someone who could look at both our physical workspace and our operational systems as one joined-up business was invaluable.

Kate held both pieces at once because they were never really two separate problems. A business that can’t run without one person holding everything in her head has the same root issue, whether that shows up in a messy inbox or a badly planned office.

What really sets Kate apart is that she asks the questions you don't even realise need asking. She challenged my thinking, identified opportunities to improve the way we operated, and built systems that will support the business as it continues to grow.

What changed

A system instead of a memory

Before, the business ran on what Alex held in her head. Now there's a system in Monday.com the whole team can use, whether or not Alex is in the room.

Space that works day to day

The new office was planned around how the team actually works, not just how the space looks.

Room to grow

The systems Kate built were designed to support Product Park as it takes on more people and more product lines, not just to fix the problems in front of it.

A founder who could step back

Alex is no longer the single point of failure in her own business. She's able to spend her time developing Product Park rather than running it minute to minute.

Proof it was built to last

At the end of the four months, Alex hired a permanent role into the business to take over the operations Kate had been holding. The systems and the structure stayed exactly where they were. That's what an embedded partnership is supposed to leave behind. Nothing that falls over when it ends.

Working with Kate

The whole experience felt collaborative rather than consultative. Kate genuinely became part of the team, and the impact on the business has been significant.

Does this sound like your business?

If your business only runs because it’s in your head, you already know the risk. It caps how big you can grow, and it doesn’t fix itself. The Embedded Partnership puts someone into the operational detail with you, builds what your business actually needs, and leaves it able to run without every piece coming through you.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to any business looking to simplify operations, implement better systems and create a business that's built to scale.

The Embedded Partnership is for founders who need more than advice. Someone in the business, doing the work alongside you.
